NORMI™ is a certifying organization that gives credit to trainings provided by various companies and/or organizations. Because the mold industry operates under the general heading of “Construction”, NORMI™ provides training for many of the construction fields that require more advanced and detailed training in Workplace Safety along with effective and relevant Continuing Education
THE NORMI™ EXAMINATION
The NORMI™ examinations for Mold Assessor and Mold Remediator are now accepted for licensure in the State of Florida. Candidates may challenge the examination (take the exam with no pre-requisite for training or experience) or may take the examination following a NORMI™ CMA or CMR onsite or online class.
This two-hour proctored exam is designed to evaluate the candidate’s knowledge of mold assessment, sampling techniques, interpretation of lab reports, moisture intrusion, moisture mapping, protocol writing, remediation techniques including establishing containment, creating negative pressure, HAZCOM and Personal Protection Equipment. click here to view options.
THE NORMI™ MOLD TRAINING PROGRAM
Mold Classes and the schedule of classes both ONLINE and ONSITE are listed at the Best Training School Website but the entry level ONSITE training includes the following certifications:
NORMI™ Certified Mold Assessor (CMA)
Too often in today’s litigious environment, consumers are overly cautious about the presence of mold in their home or the home they are trying to purchase. Apart from the “hysteria”, this advance CMI course is designed to give a common sense approach and solution to problems that are not, in most cases, life-threatening and are, in all cases, manageable with effective, and inexpensive, sanitization techniques.
NORMI™ Certified Mold Remediator (CMR)
Only when the “renovation” process is done correctly can the consumer be sure that, not only has the problem been eliminated but, proper construction techniques have been implemented to reduce the chances of the mold returning. (24 hour course)
This graphic has been included on this site to assist you in developing a path for your training in the IAQ industry. By starting with the IAQ Basics 101 ONLINE course, you will begin to understand the indoor air quality umbrella under which mold, formaldehyde and other indoor air quality contaminants fit. In most cases, training from our training partners may be followed by the NORMI™ Certification process. Certification requirements for each training may be different but a proctored examination is always required for each certification. Maintaining certification by annually collecting recertification CEUs (Continuing Education Units) insures that, as a trained professional, you will be current with industry standards in whichever path you pursue.
