Governor Chris Christie addresses members of the press and a small group of select invitees about disaster recovery funding for essential services in the region. Federal funds became available to help offset the potential 30%-40% property tax increases which would be necessary for the townships in the area to continue providing school, public works, and emergency services at currently funded levels. This government assistance is designed to help reduce additional hardships to the affected areas by maintaining needed essential services. He said, “It was good to hear that positive events like these were occurring in the affected areas. There is much education and work to be done. However, this kind of funding a very good start and we are proud to be a part of the solution.”
