The State of Florida Mold Related Services Board has approved a 14 CEU (Continuing Education Units) class for Certified Mold Assessors and Remediators. This two day class, Course #0000090 provides all 14 hours needed for mold professionals to renew their licenses in the state by 09/2014 and meets the requirements of the Florida Adminstrative Code Rule 61G6-9.012(3).
NORMI, the National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors became an approved training provider for the State of Florida’s new Mold Licensing Law in July of 2011 and is now offering a fourteen hour (14) class that meets all the statutory requirements for renewing the CMA (Assessors) and CMR (Remediators) license.
“Mold professionals in the State of Florida have found it difficult to locate a single class that provides all the hours needed to renew their license,” reported Doug Hoffman, Executive Director of NORMI. “NORMI™ was one of the few organizations approved to offer license training during the initial grandfather period and is now proud to offer CEU credit to the thousands of licensed mold professionals in Florida and, especially, the hundreds of guys and gals we brought into the industry.”
The State of Florida is among only a small hand-full of states who have recognized the need for, and legislated to provide, quality education for mold professionals. “In many states there is a lot of fraud in this industry,” remarked Lance Eisen, COO. “and we are proud to be one of the few certification agencies that is making a difference to help protect the public. It is vital that this industry have standards to follow and NORMI™ provides training that meets the accepted standards and requirements for certification that protects in industry and the public.”
Approved classes must have 1) fourteen hours of continuing education credits consisting of 4 hours of mold and mold safety, 6 hours of water and moisture management, 2 hours of report writing and 2 hours of Florida Standards of Practice, 2) an accompanying approval number from the State of Florida and 3) be offered during the renewal cycle. “There may be other companies out there that offer training, but no other company offers the comprehensive training that this class offers nor the wide range of benefits the NORMI™ provides its growing membership,” said Lance. “We work very hard to stay on top of this dynamic industry and invite all mold professionals to consider our support options at www.Join.NORMI.org ”
